VOTM - "Country Boy" by Heads Hands & Feet
I was referred to this band by a guy on one of my guitar forums. I have a little Albert Lee in my collection, so I'm familiar with his work, but I had never heard of Heads Hands and Feet before (probably because I'm not British). Anyway, Albert lays down some of the best country picking I've ever heard on this track, which is impressive for a bunch of British dudes.

Video of the Moment - "Can You Go Out Tonight" by The Singles
Stellar work and a great video from one of the better power pop bands in recent years.

Video of the Moment - "End of the Planet" by Adventures of Jet
Adventures of Jet is one of my favorite "why isn't anyone else as crazy about this band as I am?" bands. This is one of their best songs. Listen to it and fall in love with a great band that existed for all-too-short a time.

VOTM - In the Summertime by Mungo Jerry
These are the most fierce mutton chops I've ever seen. Also, it's summer now and I love this song. Enjoy.

Video of the Moment - Holy Robin Saying Holy a Whole Lot
This video is a perfect example of repetition as comedy. During the first few clips, I thought it was funny, then it wore off, then a little later it became hilarious, then it wore off, and by the end I was struggling to breathe because I was laughing so hard. I think 2:35 of Robin attaching "holy" to every situation is the exact right amount to induce uncontrollable laughter. Conversely, the more you read this explanation of this video, the less funny it becomes.

VOTM - Bjork Sings Bachelorette Live
I love Bjork. Who among us can help it? She's a gifted musician. She's gloriously weird. She's very beautiful in ways I can neither describe nor question. As it is with all things, I tend toward the quirky for my celebrity crushes (Bjork, Barbara Feldon, Kristen Wiig, Tina Fey).
Anyway, I've always been a fan of "Bachelorette," and there's really something about watching Bjork belt it out in this live version.

Video of the Moment
I've decided to start posting some videos to this site because I've been running across a number of great things on itunes. I tend to hate music videos for a number of reasons. First, I think most music videos actually take away from, rather than add to the musical experience. Second, I find that there are way more videos which are simply an exercise in blowing smoke up one's own butt rather than playing music for music's sake. Third, there's a rule of three's and I follow it.
Anyway, so I'll try and post videos which are actually worth watching. The first Video of the Moment (I'm doing VOTM because I don't plan on doing this with once per day or once per week regularity. This is just the video I'm thinking of at the moment) comes from Neil Sedaka. For some reason, my sisters were big on Neil Sedaka in the 80's, and "Calendar Girl" was their jam. I listened to this song a zillion times before I finally got to see the video, and I thought it couldn't get more awesome. Get your brains ready, because they're about to get knocked into your hands (yes, this video will transform you into an Ood).
For some reason, blogger is not letting me embed the video I want. Here is the link to the video, which is pictured below.
Note Sedaka's amazing dance moves. And they say white people can't dance. Ridiculous. Anyway, this video is one of my new favorite things and I haven't stopped loving it since I found it.
