While Messiah will always undoubtedly always be Handel's greatest and most well-known work, the two works on this disc are probably his second and third most popular.
Water Music and Music For the Royal Fireworks are very similar pieces of baroque orchestral music. They have all the hallmarks of baroque music, including way more horn trills than any non-baroque piece would dare attempt. Truly this is stately music for men in large wigs. Anyway, both pieces are very ably performed by the English Chamber Orchestra. I must admit that I found myself a little baroqued-out by the time this disc was done. It's just very decadent music from a decadent era.
