Ash-Trailer

The statement in the liner notes reads, "Guaranteed Real Teenagers." When this album came out, two of the three members of the band were 17 years old. Ash has become one of my very favorite bands, but their debut album, Trailer, is much rougher around the edges than anything that follows. The modus operandi for Ash is to take a great melody and slap a hard rocking arrangement on it. Ash is basically a more fully realized version of The Foo Fighters (yeah, I said it. Also, it's worth noting that Dave Grohl is a big fan of Ash). Anyway, Trailer is the debut album from the guaranteed real Irish teenagers in Ash. Only a few of the songs ("Jack Names the Planets," "Petrol," and "Uncle Pat") show the promise of the glory that would come from this ban. On the whole, Trailer is a lot punkier than later releases from Ash, but it isn't a bad album at all. It's a decent starting point for what would become one of my very favorite bands of all time.
